A total eclipse is when the Moon passes directly in front of the sun, completely hiding the solar disk and allowing the sun’s ghostly corona to spring into view. A partial eclipse is when the Moon passes in front of the sun, off-center, with a fraction of the bright disk remaining uncovered.
The partial eclipse of Oct. 23rd will be visible from all of the United States except Hawaii and New England. Coverage ranges from 12% in Florida to nearly 70% in Alaska. Weather permitting, almost everyone in North America will be able to see the crescent.
The eclipse will be especially beautiful in eastern parts of the USA, where the Moon and sun line up at the end of the day, transforming the usual sunset into something weird and wonderful.
“Observers in the Central Time zone have the best view because the eclipse is in its maximum phase at sunset,” says Espenak. “They will see a fiery crescent sinking below the horizon, dimmed to human visibility by low-hanging clouds and mist”.
Warning: Don’t stare. Even at maximum eclipse, a sliver of sun peeking out from behind the Moon can still cause pain and eye damage. Direct viewing should only be attempted with the aid of a safe solar filter.

During the eclipse, don’t forget to look at the ground. Beneath a leafy tree, you might be surprised to find hundreds of crescent-shaped sunbeams dappling the grass. Overlapping leaves create a myriad of natural little pinhole cameras, each one casting an image of the crescent-sun onto the ground beneath the canopy. When the eclipsed sun approaches the horizon, look for the same images cast on walls or fences behind the trees.
Here’s another trick: Criss-cross your fingers waffle-style and let the sun shine through the matrix of holes. You can cast crescent suns on sidewalks, driveways, friends, cats and dogs—you name it. Unlike a total eclipse, which lasts no more than a few minutes while the sun and Moon are perfectly aligned, the partial eclipse will goes on for more than an hour, plenty of time for this kind of shadow play.
A partial eclipse may not be total, but it is totally fun.

In 2011, several oarfish were sighted and found in the months leading up to the 8.8 magnitude quake that struck japan, followed it shortly was a 6.4 magnitude earthquake which struck Taiwan.
Kiyoshi Wadatsumi, a specialist in ecological seismology, told the Japan Times, "Deep-sea fish living near the sea bottom are more sensitive to the movements of active faults than those near the surface of the sea."
These weren't the first times researchers suggested links between animal behavior and earthquakes. Indeed, there's a long history of anecdotal reports of pets, zoo animals and wildlife acting very strangely in the days or minutes before a tremor is felt by humans.
One famous instance is recorded in the history of Helike, an ancient Greek city. During the winter of 373 B.C., "all the mice and martens and snakes and centipedes and beetles and every other creature of that kind in the city left," wrote the Roman author Aelianus. "After these creatures had departed, an earthquake occurred in the night; the city subsided; an immense wave flooded and Helike disappeared."
In February 1975, a 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck Haicheng, a city of 1 million people located in China's Liaoning province. But one day earlier, city officials ordered an evacuation based in part on reports of strange animal behavior: Hibernating snakes in the area, for example, abandoned their winter hideouts months before normal. The early evacuation of Haicheng is credited with saving thousands of human lives.
In late August of 2014, a 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck northern California specifically the Napa valley region. If we think back last year, serveral sightings of oarfishes were reported off the California coast. all occouring aprox 9-10 months prior to this large earthquake. At least three confirmed sightings of Oarfish washing up on the California Coasts spanning from October through November 2013.
Is there a possible connection to the Oarfish and pending coastal region earthquakes?
The Islamic State, also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant and the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, is a jihadist group.
In its self-proclaimed status as a caliphate, it claims religious authority over all Muslims across the world and aspires to bring much of the Muslim-inhabited regions of the world under its direct political control, beginning with territory in the Levant region, which includes Jordan, Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Cyprus, and an area in southern Turkey that includes Hatay.
The group has been officially designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the United Nations Security Council, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia, and has been widely described as a terrorist group by Western and other media sources.
The group, in its original form, was composed of and supported by a variety of Sunni insurgent groups, including its predecessor organizations,
Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) (2003–2006), Mujahideen Shura Council (2006–2006) and the Islamic State of Iraq (ISI) (2006–2013), other insurgent groups such as Jeish al-Taiifa al-Mansoura, Jaysh al-Fatiheen, Jund al-Sahaba and Katbiyan Ansar Al-Tawhid wal Sunnah, and a number of Iraqi tribes that profess Sunni Islam.
To understand, we must lift the proverbial veil which cloaks this caliphate. Firsty, we must take a look at the belief structure, philosophy, and history at the core of the Islamic State, which is Islam.
Islam
Islam is a monotheistic and Abrahamic religion articulated by the Qur'an, a book considered by its adherents to be the verbatim word of God or Allah and by the teachings and normative example of Muhammad c. 570 CE – c. 8 June 632 CE], considered by muslims to be the last prophet of God. An adherent of Islam is called a Muslim.
Muslims believe that God is one and incomparable and the purpose of existence is to worship God. Muslims also believe that Islam is the complete and universal version of a primordial faith that was revealed before many times throughout the world, including notably through Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus, whom they also consider prophets.
They maintain that the previous messages and revelations have been partially misinterpreted or altered over time, but consider the Arabic Qur'an to be both the unaltered and the final revelation of God.
Religious concepts and practices include the five pillars of Islam, which are basic concepts and obligatory acts of worship, and following Islamic law, which touches on virtually every aspect of life and society, providing guidance on multifarious topics from banking and welfare, to family life and the environment.
Most Muslims are of two denominations: Sunni or Shia. A very small but growing sect of Islam is to be considered radical islam which adhears to the quran strictly and practices Sharia Law. ISIS or ISIL, proclaim that they are practicing the true teachings of islam, and through them, there is only one path.
To Arabic-speaking people, sharia , also known as Qanun-e Islami means the moral code and religious law of a prophetic religion.
Sharia is Islamic law, it deals with many topics addressed by secular law, including crime, politics, and economics, as well as personal matters such as sexual intercourse, hygiene, diet, prayer, everyday etiquette and fasting. Adherence to Islamic law has served as one of the distinguishing characteristics of the Muslim faith historically, and through the centuries Muslims have devoted much scholarly time and effort on its elaboration.
Human interpretations of sharia vary between Islamic sects and respective schools of jurisprudence, yet in its strictest and most historically coherent definition, sharia is considered the infallible law of God.
There are two primary sources of sharia law: the precepts set forth in the Quranic verses (ayahs), and the example set by the Islamic prophet Muhammad in the Sunnah. Where it has official status, sharia is interpreted by Islamic judges (qadis) with varying responsibilities for the religious leaders (imams).
The Sharia law itself cannot be altered, but the interpretation of the Sharia law, called "figh," by religious leaders is given some leeway.
For questions not directly addressed in the primary sources, the application of sharia is extended through consensus of the religious scholars (ulama) thought to embody the consensus of the Muslim Community (ijma). Islamic jurisprudence will also sometimes incorporate analogies from the Quran and Sunnah through Islamic Judges (qiyas), though many scholars also prefer reasoning ('aql) to analogy.
The introduction of sharia is a longstanding goal for Islamist movements globally, including in Western countries, but attempts to impose sharia have been accompanied by controversy, violence, and warfare.
Most countries do not recognize sharia; however, some countries in Asia, Africa and Europe recognize sharia and use it as the basis for divorce, inheritance and other personal affairs of their Islamic population.
In Britain, the Muslim Arbitration Tribunal makes use of sharia family law to settle disputes, and this limited adoption of sharia is controversial.
The concept of crime, judicial process, justice and punishment embodied in sharia is different from that of secular law. The differences between sharia and secular laws have led to an on-going controversy as to whether sharia is compatible with secular democracy, freedom of thought, and women's rights.
In secular jurisprudence, sharia is classified as religious law, which is one of the three major categories that individual legal systems generally fall under, alongside civil law and common law.
Golden age of Islam
The Islamic Golden Age started with the rise of Islam and establishment of the first Islamic state in 622. The end of the age is variously given as of 1258AD with the Mongolian Sack of Baghdad, or 1492 with the completion of the Christian Reconquista of the Emirate of Granada in Al-Andalus, and Iberian Peninsula. During the reign of the Abbasid caliph Harun ar-Rashid (786 to 809), the House of Wisdom was inaugurated in Baghdad where scholars from various parts of the world sought to translate and gather all the known world's knowledge into Arabic.
The Abbasids were influenced by the Quranic injunctions and hadiths, such as "the ink of a scholar is more holy than the blood of a martyr," that stressed the value of knowledge. During the age, the major Islamic capital cities of Baghdad, Cairo, and Córdoba became the main intellectual centers for science, philosophy, medicine, trade, and education.
The Arabs showed a strong interest in assimilating the scientific knowledge of the civilizations they had conquered. Many classic works of antiquity that might otherwise have been lost were translated into Arabic and Persian and later in turn translated into Turkish, Hebrew, and Latin.
They assimilated, synthesized, and advanced the knowledge gained from the ancient Greek, Roman, Persian, Chinese, Indian, Egyptian, and Phoenician civilizations.
The government heavily patronized scholars. The money spent on the Translation Movement for some translations is estimated to be equivalent to about twice the annual research budget of the United Kingdom’s Medical Research Council today. The best scholars and notable translators, such as Hunayn ibn Ishaq, had salaries that are estimated to be the equivalent of professional athletes today.
They were a 'free thinking' society, that encouraged philosophy, Science, Mathmatics,physics, biology, medicine, public education, the arts and architeceture. They encouraged travel and commerce amongst all.
Hospitals in this era were the first to require medical diplomas to license doctors. In the medieval Islamic world, hospitals were built in most major cities.
Medical facilities traditionally closed each night, but by the 10th century laws were passed to keep hospitals open 24 hours a day, and hospitals were forbidden to turn away patients who were unable to pay.
Eventually, charitable foundations called waqfs were formed to support hospitals, as well as schools. This money supported free medical care for all citizens. In a notable example, a 13th-century governor of Egypt Al Mansur Qalawun ordained a foundation for the Qalawun hospital that would contain a mosque and a chapel, separate wards for different diseases, and a library for doctors and a pharmacy.
The Qalawun hospital was based in a former Fatimid palace which had accommodation for 8,000 people. "It served 4,000 patients daily." The waqf stated,
"...The hospital shall keep all patients, men and women, until they are completely recovered. All costs are to be borne by the hospital whether the people come from afar or near, whether they are residents or foreigners, strong or weak, low or high, rich or poor, employed or unemployed, blind or sighted, physically or mentally ill, learned or illiterate. There are no conditions of consideration and payment, none is objected to or even indirectly hinted at for non-payment."
The first institutions for the care of mentally ill people were also established.
There is little agreement on the precise causes of the decline, but in addition to invasion by the Mongols and crusaders, and the destruction of libraries and madrasahs, it has also been suggested that political mismanagement and the stifling of ijtihad (independent reasoning) in the 12th century in favor of institutionalised taqleed or (imitation) thinking played a part. Ahmad Y. al-Hassan has rejected the thesis that lack of creative thinking was a cause, arguing that science was always kept separate from religious argument; he instead analyses the decline in terms of economic and political factors, drawing on the work of the 14th-century writer Ibn Khaldun.
It is this notion of institutionalised 'taqleed' or imitation thinking , combined with strict dogmatic ideas by the Islamic State Caliphate and other radical movements in the Middle East that continue to hold back society and progress for the Middle Eastern region causing mass suffering to millions for the past 1400 years and still we see this happening right before our eyes in 2014.
Michael ("who is like God?", Hebrew: מִיכָאֵל (pronounced [mixåˈʔel]), Micha'el or Mîkhā'ēl; Greek: Μιχαήλ, Mikhaḗl; Latin: Michael (in the Vulgate Michahel); Arabic: ميخائيل, Mīkhā'īl) is an archangel in Jewish, Christian, and Islamic teachings. Roman Catholics, the Eastern Orthodox, Anglicans, and Lutherans refer to him as "Saint Michael the Archangel" and also as "Saint Michael". Orthodox Christians refer to him as the "Taxiarch Archangel Michael" or simply "Archangel Michael".
Michael is mentioned three times in the Book of Daniel, once as a "great prince who stands up for the children of your people". The idea that Michael was the advocate of the Jews became so prevalent that in spite of the rabbinical prohibition against appealing to angels as intermediaries between God and his people, Michael came to occupy a certain place in the Jewish liturgy.
In the New Testament Michael leads God's armies against Satan's forces in the Book of Revelation, where during the war in heaven he defeats Satan. In the Epistle of Jude Michael is specifically referred to as "the archangel Michael". Christian sanctuaries to Michael appeared in the 4th century, when he was first seen as a healing angel, and then over time as a protector and the leader of the army of God against the forces of evil. By the 6th century, devotions to Archangel Michael were widespread both in the Eastern and Western Churches. Over time, teachings on Michael began to vary among Christian denominations.
In the Hebrew Scriptures, and the Old Testament, the prophet Daniel experiences a vision after having undergone a period of fasting. In the vision in Daniel 10:13-21 an angel identifies Michael as the protector of Israel. Daniel refers to Michael as a "prince of the first rank". Later in the vision in Daniel 12:1 Daniel is informed about the role of Michael during the "Time of the End" when there will be "distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations" and that:
"At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise."
In view of this, Michael is seen as playing an important role as the protector of Israel, and later of the Christian Church.
Although the three occurrences of Michael in the Book of Daniel 10:13, 10:21 and 12:1 all refer to the same individual, who acts in similar ways in all three cases, the last one is set at the "end times", while the first two refer to local time in Persia. These are the only three references to Michael in the Hebrew Bible.
The references to the "captain of the host of the Lord" encountered by Joshua in the early days of his campaigns in the Promised Land (Joshua 5:13-15) have at times been interpreted as Michael the Archangel, but there is no theological basis for that assumption, given that Joshua then worshiped this figure, and angels are not to be worshiped. Some scholars also point that the figure may refer to God himself. In the book of Joshua's account of the fall of Jericho, Joshua "looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand". When the still unaware Joshua asks which side of the fight the Archangel is on, the response was, "neither...but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come".
"...there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven."
After the conflict, Satan is thrown to earth along with the fallen angels, where he ("that ancient serpent called the devil") still tries to "lead the whole world astray".
Separately, in the Epistle of Jude1:9 Michael is specifically referred to as an "archangel" when he again confronts Satan:
"Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses"
"... the Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first" (American Standard Version of 1901, a version that uses the definite article, "the archangel", absent in the original Greek and in English translations (such as the English Standard Version of 2001, which has: "the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God").
This archangel who heralds the second coming of Christ is not named,but is probably Michael.
According to rabbinic Jewish tradition, Michael acted as the advocate of Israel, and sometimes had to fight with the princes of the other nations (cf. Daniel 10:13) and particularly with the angel Samael, Israel's accuser. Michael's enmity with Samael dates from the time when the latter was thrown down from heaven. Samael took hold of the wings of Michael, whom he wished to bring down with him in his fall; but Michael was saved by God.[17][18] Michael is also said to have had a dispute with Samael over the soul of Moses.[19]
The idea that Michael was the advocate of the Jews became so prevalent that in spite of the rabbinical prohibition against appealing to angels as intermediaries between God and his people, Michael came to occupy a certain place in the Jewish liturgy. There were two prayers written beseeching him as the prince of mercy to intercede in favor of Israel: one composed by Eliezer ha-Kalir, and the other by Judah ben Samuel he-Hasid. But appeal to Michael seems to have been more common in ancient times. ThusJeremiah is said to have addressed a prayer to him. "When a man is in need he must pray directly to God, and neither to Michael nor to Gabriel."
The rabbis declare that Michael entered upon his role of defender at the time of the biblical patriarchs. Thus, according to Rabbi Eliezer ben Jacob, it was Michael who rescued Abraham from the furnace into which he had been thrown by Nimrod (Midrash Genesis Rabbah xliv. 16). It was Michael, the "one that had escaped" (Genesis 14:13), who told Abraham that Lot had been taken captive (Midrash Pirke R. El.), and who protected Sarah from being defiled by Abimelech. He announced to Sarah that she would bear a son and he rescued Lot at the destruction of Sodom.
In Matt. 24 where Jesus talked about the "holy place", He was NOT referring to a third temple. In fact, Luke 21 renders this same passage as, "standing in the place where he ought not"...
Do you have any idea where the teaching of a 7 yr. tribulation comes from? Do you recall an early church patriarch by the name of Martin Luther? It was Martin Luther that "pointed the finger" at the pope as sitting in the seat of Antichrist. Because of this fact as well as his 95 Thesis, people began to leave the Catholic church in droves! As you can well imagine, the Roman church was furious with him! They were desperate to figure out away to undo the damage that Luther had inflicted on their organization (church). So they began calling for their brightest biblical scholars. They needed away to be able to remove the stigma that the Antichrist would be the final pope. Francisco Ribera and Robert Bellarmine were brilliant Jesuit priests that fabricated the doctrine of futurism. They cunningly took "Daniel's 70 weeks" (490 yr) timed prophecy and stopped it short after only 69 weeks (483 yrs.) and then inserting a gap, now of almost 2000 yrs. They then taught that this prophecy will pick back up and the last week (7 yrs.) will commence after Christ returns secretly to get His church. By this teaching, Rome has been quite successful in removing the idea that the final pope will be the Antichrist. The reasoning being,"since the pope is a good Christian, he will be taken in the rapture, so he couldn't be the Antichrist that will be revealed in the middle of the 7 yr. tribulation." Right? ? ?
In God's Word, we are warned that in these "last days" that there will be many false prophets and teachers. Some of these false teachings are: a pre-trib. rapture; the great tribulation will last 7 yrs.; the building of a third Jewish temple; and then in the middle of this 7 yr. tribulation, the Antichrist will enter into this newly built temple and claim to be God. Most of these beliefs are formed from a misinterpretation Dan. 9:24-27 or the "seventy weeks of Daniel". These seventy weeks (490 yrs.) of Daniel's prophecy have already been marvelously and COMPLETELY fulfilled and that even means the last "week" or 7 yr. period. God was very careful to establish the starting date of 457 BC with the phase, "from the command to restore and build Jerusalem" (which is found in Ezra 7:21-27). This prophecy was meant to help "God's covenant people" to recognize the Messiah when He arrived the first time. So, how do we know that this last 7 yr. time period is referring to Jesus Christ and not the Antichrist that is still yet to come? By doing the math... If we add 490 yrs. to 457 BC, that gives us the ending date of 34 AD. (Please keep in mind that there is no year "0" ). If we subtract 7 yrs. that will bring us to 27 AD; the end of the 69th week; the "anointing of the Most Holy" and the start of the 70th week. We know that in 27 AD that Jesus was 30 yrs. old because we also know that Jesus was born in 4 BC (king Herod the Great would also die later in the Fall of this same year). It was when Jesus was 30 that He was baptized by John and was "anointed" by the Holy Spirit and God the Father spoke saying, "Thou art my beloved Son, in thee I'm well pleased"; Luke 3:21-23.
It was at this point that Jesus Christ began to "confirm the covenant with many for one week"; Dan.9:27. The word "many" in this verse is referring only to the Jewish people. For Jesus said, "I am not sent but to the lost sheep of the house of Israel"; Matt.15:24. The prophecy continues, "and in the midst of week (31 AD) he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease". Please keep in mind that the noun "he" was defined in verse 26 as the "Messiah" that would be "cut off" or receive a sinner's death, but "not for Himself". So how did Jesus' death cause the "sacrifice and the oblation to cease"? We find the answer in Matt. 27:50-51, "Jesus, when He had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the (Holy) Ghost", Vs. 51 "And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from top to bottom; and the earth did quake...". The temple veil was used in the sacrificial service in the transference of the sins of the people to the temple by the priest "sprinkling" the blood of the sacrificed animal on to it... Jesus Christ's death also fulfilled: "to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness".
For John said at Jesus' baptism, "Behold the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world"; John 1:29 And this is also what Jesus meant in John 19:30, when He said,"It is finished: and he bowed His head, and gave up the (Holy) Ghost". But what about the remaining 3 1/2 yrs. of that last 7 yr. period that Christ "confirmed the covenant"? In 34 AD, our resurrected Savior, Jesus Christ, appeared unto Saul, changed his name to Paul and called him to be the "apostle to the Gentiles". This was a profound change for Christ, for when He walked the earth, Jesus never preached to the Gentile nations. For He said, "I am not sent but to the lost sheep of the house of Israel"; Matt.15:24. So what happened to bring about this momentous change? The prophecy of the 70 weeks of Daniel starts by saying,"seventy weeks are determined upon thy people", Israel was given a 490 yr. probation. It was at this point that the Jewish nation's commission to teach the world about God and His statutes was taken and it was then given unto the Gentiles.
By Christ calling Paul to now go to the Gentiles, is ABSOLUTE PROOF that the prophecy of the 70 weeks of Daniel was COMPLETELY FULFILLED !!! So what does this mean for us today? The Word of God does NOT teach a 7 yr. tribulation nor that there will be a third temple. In Dan. 9:27, where it says, "and for the overspreading of abominations he (the Messiah; the Creator who used Rome) shall make [it desolate] (king Herod's second temple was destroyed in 70 AD by the Roman general, Titus) , "EVEN UNTIL THE CONSUMMATION" (Christ's Second Coming) that means NO THIRD TEMPLE! Now, you may be asking yourself, "aren't the Jews constructing the implements that will be used in that future temple?" I have already seen this same sort of test to the authority of God's Word when Saddam Hussein said that he was going to be the next king Nebuchadnezzar and rebuild the city of Babylon. Even though he had already started excavating and had actually started reconstruction on several buildings, I was aware of what God had said concerning this... In Isaiah 13:19-20, it states that God was going to use the Medes to destroy Babylon and that Babylon would never be inhabited again! And we all know how that turned out...

In tests off the California coast, a Lockheed Martin prototype laser system successfully disabled two boats at a range of approximately 1.6 kilometers. These were the first tests of the Area Defense Anti-Munitions (ADAM) system against maritime targets.
Lockheed Martin is developing the transportable, ground-based ADAM laser system to demonstrate a practical, affordable defense against short-range threats, including Qassam-like rockets, unmanned aerial systems and small boats.
In less than 30 seconds, the ground-based system’s high-energy laser burned through multiple compartments of the rubber hull of the military-grade small boats operating in the ocean. Lockheed Martin previously demonstrated the system’s capabilities in countering representative airborne targets in flight, including small-caliber rocket targets and an unmanned aerial system target. The system can precisely track moving targets at a range of more than 5 kilometers (3.1 miles), and its 10-kilowatt fiber laser can engage targets up to 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) away.
The 2nd century AD author Lucian wrote that during the Siege of Syracuse (c. 214–212 BC), Archimedes destroyed enemy ships with fire. Centuries later, Anthemius of Tralles mentions burning-glasses as Archimedes' weapon.[30] The device, sometimes called the "Archimedes heat ray", was used to focus sunlight onto approaching ships, causing them to catch fire.
We have seen many researchers trying to recreate the Archimedes heat ray using mirrors to reflect the sunlight to a point to catch something on fire. In all attempts it has failed. but what if, archimedes ray was actually a sophicated device, technology since lost over time.
In scotland the ancient vitrified forts show evidence that a strong heat source was used on the structures. So intense that even fire could not reproduce these results. The forts have been subjected to such an emense temperature that the rocks actually melted.
